The Researcher Within Me

As I think to myself of what I did before coming to college, I truly realize that for the majority of the time, my only focus was what I needed to do for college. Senior year consisted of studying and making sure I could get into the school of my choice (obviously FSU) and the summer after high school was spent working 2 jobs and taking classes so I could be prepared for the what the future held for me while I was at FSU. I specifically remember spending any spare moment I had while at my job working the typical 12 hour shift, I would go on the computer and look at what classes I should take and get football tickets and research what college life would be for me in the near future. The madness of preparation for college is now (kinda) passed, with a sigh of relief. FSU has been so worth the madness thankfully.

  1. I was the same way in high school. My mom was a teacher in my school so she would pull strings to make sure I had the most challenging teachers to prepare me for college. I took a lot of SAT classes and tutors to ensure that I would get into the college of my choice. By sophomore year I was on the right track for a good college, but then I had to do a lot of research as to what college I wanted to go to. To be honest FSU didn't appeal to me until I toured the school, which is what converted me. Touring colleges, in my opinion, is a great way to research what college is right for you.

  2. My research prior to being at Florida State was focused on where I wanted to attend college. I never realized what all the hard work I had put into high school was going, until the beginning of my senior year. This was probably the most stressful time of my high school career. I decided not to continue to play college baseball and I had to decide on a place that I wanted to attend. I felt a lot of pressure to go to Florida since both of my parents went there. I toured both FSU and UF and decided on FSU, which upset my parents but I am very confident I made the right choice.

  3. Like the others have mentioned, I also dealt with some of the same things my senior year. I was balancing my sports with SAT tutoring and on top of that my homework. I ended up taking the SAT I think 5 or 6 times before I got a good enough score to be able to come to my dream school (FSU). At first I wasn't quite sure where I wanted to go, I researched several colleges and really loved them all, but knew that FSU was probably the best fit for me, as I always wanted to go to a big school. Thankfully all my hard work paid off and I was able to come here!

  4. I can relate to this a lot. I Spent most of my time working out for football and studying making sure I could meet the grades to get accepted. Some of my teachers didn't like the fact that I choo FSU over some of the other school so they became harder on me. I studied countless of hours just to make sure I was going to pass.
