Blog #4
Most of my snapshots were formed from milestones or turning
points in my life. Some of the milestones were high points in my life while
others were low points. I knew the snapshot about my grandma passing away would
be a strong snapshot because it was something that really affected my life. I
was able to put myself almost back in time to when it happened and create the
emotion I had felt. This was definitely not an enjoyable piece to write but it
was a great way to express how I felt about this tragedy onto paper. The
snapshot that I really enjoyed writing was the one about me pitching in the
state tournament. When writing this I was able to express all of the joy I had
felt and almost relive that awesome experience. There were several ideas that I
didn’t wind up using that I had planned on originally. The two ideas for
snapshots that I dropped were my “first break up” and “my brother being sent to
the E.R”. I chose not to write about my first break up because halfway through
writing it I realized it wasn’t a quality snapshot at all. I chose to throw the
snapshot out about my little brother because he wound up being okay so it
wasn’t as emotional of an experience for me. I decided what would work based on
how personal the snapshot was to me, so the ones I didn’t feel as strongly
about I omitted.

I think it is a good way to write your snapshots the way you did. It is good that you could feel emotions while writing them and that you could relive those moments. Of course I understand that you couldn't really enjoy writing about the death of your grandma.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have had same feelings while writing my paper because for me, I only rethought of these moments but I didn't quite achieve to "relive" these moments like you said.
I did the same thing. I kept the snapshots that I could write the most about rather than keeping those that probably wouldn't attract or keep the reader's attention. Rather than using turning points in my snapshot paper, I used memories that I remembered a lot of detail from, which were many recent memories.
