Blog Post #8

1) The library is a dark pit.
The clock is a fruitcake.
My head is a puzzle.
The cheeseburger is heaven.
My friend is a nut.
The strawberry is a heart.
The fish is a sword.
My phone is a crack.
My bed is a sanctuary.
Food is good.

2) It's as cold as an ice cube.
My biology homework is as long as the Great Wall of China.
The waves are as blue as the sky.
The sparkle in there eye was like a star.
He was as dumb as a pot of bricks.
The cafe menu was as complicated as a Rubix Cube.

  1. I really like your simile saying "My biology homework is as long as the Great Wall of China", it directly gives a good image of how long it is. It also shows very well how much work you have to do for this homework. I also find interesting to put a cafe menu with a Rubix Cube. I had never thought about it. These things are so different, however they make sense in this simile.

  2. I like the metaphor "my phone is crack". Phones aren't really crack, but they seem to be just as addictive. One cannot simply avoid using a phone. I thought it was pretty fun, which is why it stood out to me.
I also liked the one that Kim M liked, the Great Wall one. I thought this was funny as well, and I enjoyed reading it. It really does exaggerate the point, but lets us know how much homework it is.

  3. Your similes and metaphors are all good. I really liked them, especially the "The cafe menu was as complicated as a Rubix cube." Those two comparisons really illustrate what you are trying to say. Everyone knows a Rubix cube is hard to solve and figure out so comparing those two really works. I also like how you compare the homework to the Great Wall of China. Not only does the reader get an image of the metaphor, but your message is also being represented.
