A street is a pathway. A street is a runway. A dog is a tool. A dog is a best friend. A
towel is a mop. A towel is a comfort. A computer is a thief. A cigar is a
ghost. A cup of coffee is a life ring. A
bank is a fort. A tower is a sanctuary. A ocean is a river. A gate is a
warning. A sign is a recommendation. A windmill is a sail. A boat is a
spacecraft. A shadow is a clock. A tower is a negotiator. A friend is an ally.
A friend is a trusted traitor. A plan is a guideline. A sentence is a lie. A
car is a time machine. A car is a chariot. A fog is a wall. A mist is a veil. A
suggestion is a compass. A jacket is a guardian. A dollar bill is a trick. The
house felt like a paradise. Banks are like a castle. The vault feels like a dungeon.
A map acts like a light. A voice is like a follower. The area smelled like
cigar smoke. His eyes looked like ice. The door sounded like a screeching tire.
His voice sounded like a opera singer. The room looked like a cave. His
attitude was like a bad wolf. He looked like a kind person. The counter felt
like a piece of cold steel. The money looked like a vacation home. The track
looked like a maze. The fire sounded like a barrage of firecrackers.
I like the metaphor "A dog is a best friend" because if any person has a dog, it automatically hits emotion with him. A dog is always happy and always around to be with, as to make it a man's best friend. Reading this metaphor allows me to imagine my own dog at home, and remember the times I played with him and the sights and sounds.
ReplyDeleteI really like the simile "His eyes looked like ice" because it associates well with multiple senses. If I was the person looking at the ices of ice, I would feel intimidated, wondering just what happened to this person to make his eyes look like so. And if I was the person whose eyes looked like ice, I can only imagine the feeling of such an extraordinary time. Your demeanor so dark and so cold that it creates this effect on your own body parts.
I really liked "a family is a trusted traitor" because I never thought of it like that, but its true. There's no one you trust more than your family yet they can easily turn against you like a traitor. I also liked "a computer is a thief" because that could mean several things to me: 1. a computer is a thief because it consumes people's attention and steals their focus on other things such as homework or friends. 2. a computer is a thief because people go online shopping a lot and it's tempting to spend all your money 3. a computer is a thief because people/viruses can steal your identity online if you're not careful.
ReplyDeleteI like the metaphor "a computer is a thief", not because of how much it costs to buy one but because there are a lot of thieves behind a computer. We can't see them so I think we are less afraid of them than the ones that come in our houses to steal things but the ones that are behind a computer can actually do much more harm. They can steal your identity, which I think is the worst theft you can ever have.
ReplyDeleteI also liked "the shadow is a clock". At first I asked myself what that could mean, but after thinking about it, I remembered that ages ago, when there weren't any clocks, people "looked at the time" through shadows.
I also like your metaphor of "a computer is a thief" because there is some actuality and truth behind this statement. Computers are so much more than just a piece of technology. It is like a completely different world. From facebook to shopping online, we are always giving out our personal information. But who is getting this information? Anyone can find anything online and that is what makes technology so scary. Identity thief happens with the usage of a computer. I really like the idea behind this metaphor.
ReplyDeleteI like your metaphor "A suggestion is a compass". This is true because a suggestion isn't telling you what to do, but rather serves to point us in the right direction. Much like a compass does.
ReplyDeleteI also really like "The fire sounded like a barrage of firecrackers". This simile gives great detail and helps you envision what is happening. It is very pleasing to the senses.
