Blog #8

Friends are family.  Friends are joy.  Friends are laughter.  Friends are happiness.  Friends are hope.  Friends are memories.  Friends are support.  Friends are radiance.  Friends are beauty.  Friends are love.  Friends are bliss.  Friends are sweet summertime.  Friends are delight.  Friends are satisfaction.  Friends are cloud nine.  Friends are compassion.  Friends are adoration.  Friends are everything.

Her hair was like a golden ray of sunshine.  Her hair was as golden as the sweet summer sunshine.  His smile glistened like the stars in the night sky.  Her face lit up like a mother's when she meets her child for the first time.  The waves are like a roaring symphony crashing on the sand.  The sun shined bright like a diamond.  The sun glistened like a field of bright yellow daisies.

I really like some of my metaphors and similes and may use them in my essay.  I plan on developing these thoughts and sentences more before using them in my writing.

  1. I really like your entire first set of the metaphors. I think it is cool that all of them can be explained by the last example. Friends can literally be everything to you and that is why making metaphors about friends is so relevant. You can think of separate people that all hold one of the figures you used to compare friends to in the set of examples. Good starting noun for your metaphors list.

  2. I really liked your whole first set of metaphors also! Friends can be so many different things and you definitely portrayed that with the various different words you used. I also really enjoyed your similes, especially those explaining "her" golden hair. The simile comparing her hair to sweet summer sunshine hits me hard too especially since I'm homesick of the beach and the summer sun of back home!
