The pillow is comfort. The pillow is a cloud. The
pillow is a sanctuary. The pillow is a sheep. Baseball is life. Football is
life. Basketball is life. The house is a temple. The house is a refuge. The
Xbox is fun. The Xbox is a way of life. Tallahassee is heaven. Tallahassee is
hell. Dogs are family. Horses are cars. Tickets are a gateway. Children are
everything. Parents are nurturers.
The boy looked as if he had fought a battle. The
man seemed as if he had seen the devil. The light was as bright as the sun. The
dog was as white as snow. The beer was as cold as the Rockies. The fire looked
as if it was dancing. The girl was shocked like an electric eel. The cloud
looked like a cat. The air smelt like a stream.
I don't know if I will use any of these in my story but I will definitely use this exercise to help formulate ideas in the future.
I especially like your metaphors that are concerning a pillow. My pillow and my bed truly are my sanctuary and I mean it when I say I would rather not leave my bed. I also like how you talked about Tallahassee being heaven and hell because it's true. I'm having a love/hate relationship with college in general which includes the city of Tallahassee. Your simile that compares the girl being shocked like an electric eel reminded me of a song that I actually know.
