What are you most anxious about, when writing? For example, do you worry most about grammar and mechanics? About organization? About the deadline? About page length? Why?

My anxiety does not come from the objective parts of writing, such as grammar and the organization, but the subjective aspect of it, the flow of ideas and theory. I have been told by some that when I write, only the essentials need to be included and be specific, but I have also been told that the essentials are what lead to a loss of attraction, and flare and details allow you to write pieces people want to read. The spelling of words and the construction of commas and periods can be taught through rubrics and lessons at a young age, but the ability of one to discover their feelings on readings and being able to put them into flowing ideas can be a daunting one; one that leads to imitation which leads to fault. A writer, or just simply a student, may have the ability and creativity to write well, but if he thinks of himself as inept to perform, his writing will lack the full potential. This is where I as a writer come in; always telling myself that a writing is too much for me or too over my head, it causes me to block my own ideas and my writing thus suffers. Writing needs to be controlled: a person cannot be too resistant and write short sentences to block the flow of the work, but that same person cannot be ignorant of his basic teachings and let his ideas run loose into run-on sentences, or a loss of the central point. I struggle finding a solid middle ground that I can stand on and put forth admirable writings that will keep the reader interested but also let him indulge himself into my details.

  1. I completely agree with how mental the whole aspect of writing can be. When you are seriously into writing, you must have a strong mental capacity in order to allow room for error and mistakes. When you can accept faults in your own writing you will grow much stronger as an individual writer. This is why it is so important to accept all criticism from anyone who reviews your piece of work, good or bad.
