The reason of writing by Murray that resonated to me most was that writing my personal essays allows me to make use of my experiences. Writing personal essays allows me as a writer to show people things I have done in my life and shows the type of person that I am. They allow me to share my story. One aspect of advice that Murray used which I felt really helped me was the opening line part "The Lead". Often times when writing a paper I struggle with what to say at the beginning. Something that you need to really pull in the audience. I Reading this will help me create my lead sentences significantly because I will be able to incorporate some of the examples he uses. For my next draft I feel I can implement the advice given by Murray by using it in my lead sentences in order to help drag my audience into my essay.

I completely agree with the fact that essays allow the writer to make use of his experiences. This is not the one that I chose but it also resonated to me. I think this is one of the biggest reason of writing personal essays. And I also think that the advice of "The Lead" is a good and useful one!
ReplyDelete"The lead" is a good one but i feel that is something i need to work on at times but I picked the voice because i prefer writing in my own was or my own words. Although when writing you do need a interesting start, just so you can get the audience attention or readers to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteI agree also that personal essays are beneficial in learning more about yourself. Writing about these moments in detail are also good to have on paper so that you never forget them. I struggle also with the lead so it was good to hear Murray's advice and ideas. My next draft will have a better introduction as well because of his advice
