"Looking back, a person risks losing hold of the present while being confounded by the past."
This tells me that he was really trying to make sure that his kids was well taken care of when it came to the academics traditions. But it also can jeopardize what you are doing, I'm saying this because this will pressure you because you are not that moment on whats going on besides your past somethings that you just can't change. So by me saying this I will say that I can't take Rodriguez side as of now because his past wouldn't be able to help him by pass where he is at now, I feel he have way more in front of him that he could be focusing on instead of looking back now, i mean its nthing with looking back but I feel its only right to look back when you are settled.
I agree with what you are saying. I think that what is done is done and you should focus on things ahead of you. I am all about the progression of life. However, I also believe there is a good amount of information and knowledge you can learn about yourself and others when you reflect back on events in the past. Those events may also help you get through with what you are dealing with in the present if. For the most part living in the now is how I feel but it isn't bad to look back and reflect on past experiences every once and a while.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you are saying as well, in cases like Rodriguez's it can almost be negative to look back at the past as the opportunity he has in the present as well as the future is so great doing something like looking back can almost be harmful to him. The one good thing I believe that can come from looking back however is learning from his past mistakes as well as mistakes made by his family. This can in a way allow him to learn and fix the mistakes creating an even brighter future for himself.
